February saw the first outing of the 'Once a month club' - which is the name we have given to the group of us that are going to be trying something new each month. I really don't remember how this name came about, but at the time (which was just after midnight on New Years Eve or technically New Years Day) we def thought it was a great name.
Anyway, I am going off on a complete tangent. Our first outing was to do outdoor laser quest/tag in Essex, which was ideal as we are all really competitive (some more than others!). I have never tried my hand at laser quest before, although I have tried paintballing, and I was glad to hear that laser quest would not hurt unlike paint balling.
When we arrived we were given some very fetching overalls and split up into 2 teams, which were as follows:
Me, Matt, Sim - Red team
Naomi, Lucy, Simon, Rhys - Blue team
You can clearly see that the Red Team were the strongest and best team :)
We then meet our instructor and went through all the safety info and how to use the equipment. I really was listening intently to what he was saying, but for some reason I always end up coming out of those briefing still not fully understanding how to use the equipment etc. This lack of knowledge became clear in the first game when I was just running around aimlessly losing lives and not really hitting many targets, but thankfully I did get the hang of things by the second game.
We played a number of games, which had different obstacles or settings. For example, some of the games were in wooded areas, which meant Simeon crawled through the mud and hid behind trees military style. There were also other games where you could climb into and onto military tanks.
By the third game, the blue team were being beaten so badly by the red team, that the instructor with us actually joined the blue team to help them out. However, the team of 5 were no match for the 3 of us and we won - of course we did, we are the best!
I can not remember the final score, but I do know the Red team won :)
We finished off a brilliant day with a lovely, well earnt pub dinner. Yum!
I would def try laser quest again and I would recommend it!
