Christmas at Kew Gardens

A couple of months ago my cousin Kate and I went to Kew Gardens and saw their Christmas at Kew event being advertised and we bookmarked it as something we wanted to do in December.

Fast forward a few months and the Friday before Christmas my cousin, brother, mum and travelled the long journey on the district line to Kew Gardens. I can say for sure that the journey was well worth it. The trees and grounds of Kew were lit up beautifully, everything was so colourful. The fountains in front of the Palm House were timed to the music from Home Alone, and the whole place felt so christmasy.

There was a designated path that you had to follow, and this passed by some of the main attractions at Kew and these were all lit up. There was an area where we could buy marshmallows and roast these on mini fires. I choose the Mango and Sweet Orange marshmallow, which was delicious.

There was also a little funfair area, with rides and food stalls. We were all big kids and went on the helter-skelter, which may have ended with someone getting friction burn :)

At the end of the path there was a wishing tree, plus pyrotechnics which were also set to music.

There are still a few days left to enjoy the Christmas at Kew event, which ends on 3rd January 2015.
