World Baton Twirling Championships

So 2014 is coming to an end and I still have lots of adventures that I have not posted about and so I am going to spend the last few weeks of 2014 updating this blog. The adventures are unlikely to be in order, but as I started this blog to ultimately help myself remember my adventures I don't think it really matters (well not to me anyway). So here goes....

Back in August, myself and some of my baton twirling friends went to Nottingham for the World Baton Twirling Championships. I was so excited that the worlds were going to be here in the UK, as it is rare you get to see the best baton twirlers in the world. So we went for the weekend, where we saw the semi-finals and finals of the teams as well as the men's and women's solos.

The first day we were in a box, which was brilliant as we had a great view and a comfy seat, which any baton twirler will tell you is a rarity at a competition :) The second day we were in the bleachers in the hall, which gave us the chance to be amongst the supporters and soak up the atmosphere.

The level of twirling was outstanding and we were lucky to witness one of the Japanese men scoring the perfect 10.0 in both the semi final and the final of his solo. The routine was breath taking. A few other noticeable routines were a Hunger Games inspired solo by a lady from the USA and a spider themed team from France.

I am so glad we got the opportunity to go to the world championships, as it was something I didn't think I would get to do.
