Advance warning......this post will not be long, as a lot of the week was written off due to sickness, but I did get one run in before I was hit with the flu like virus that is spreading quickly amongst almost everyone by the looks of things. It was also the week that my cousin and I announced that we would be running the London Marathon for The Stroke Association.
Monday was my rest day as I was working a 12 hr shift, so my first run of week 2 training was on Tuesday.
Tuesday's morning run was a break through for me as I broke through my 5km barrier I had set up. I know I can run 5km, I know the route and I know my pace, but on my run on Tuesday morning I thought it was time to break through my 5km mental block and push myself. I ended up running 6km in about 40 mins, which I know does not sound like much, but it felt good to push myself through my comfort zone and try and run a bit further. All in all it was a good run, with the sun shining and frost on the grass.
The rest of Tuesday and Wednesday was filled with lots of Christmasy trips, including a trip to the Winter Forest near Liverpool Street, the Christmas decorations on Carnaby Street and ice skating at the Tower of London with my brother, sister and cousin.

I started to feel ill on Wednesday evening and by Thursday I was feeling very rough, with the cold hitting me fully on Friday. So the rest of the week was spent resting and recovering at home. I started to have that guilt of not running and training, but I had to keep reminding myself that I needed to allow my body time to recover and get over the cold, otherwise it would end up with me not running for 2 weeks. A cold was not the ideal run up preparation to Christmas, but as the song goes 'isn't it ironic' lol!
Here is to feeling better in week 3 and getting more runs in.
