Sawmill, Stratford

A new thing I am going to do this year is have cake day at least once a month, this will involve me trying out different bakeries at least once a month. I don't know how this will fit in with my healthy eating goal for 2015, but I can try ;)

Our visit stop on our tour was the Sawmill in Stratford, East London. I didn't really know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. The decoration of the cafe is very welcoming and warm, with the fairy lights hanging from the ceiling and bare brick walls. There is also quite a lot of selection to chose from, with a number of different cakes, as well as quiches and savoury croissants. They also do freshly squeezed juices, which I will def be going back to try.

The service was quite slow, but the atmosphere and feel of the place did make up for this. I had the red velvet cake (I forgot to take any pics sorry as I was too excited about eating it lol!), which was yummy and a very good sized slice considering the price; although I did think the cake was slightly dense and could have been a bit lighter.

I think I will def be giving this place another visit soon, and if you are in Stratford (maybe doing some shopping in Westfield) you should pop along and say hello and maybe have a slice of cake or two :)
